Some may think the Iowa Storm Water Education Program is a duplication of current programs or services offered on a local level.  Nothing can be further from the truth.  ISWEP serves to enhance and strengthen local efforts by providing a link between water quality improvement information research, networking and materials development.  We are a statewide service made up of various sized communities that have pooled together their financial resources to create a program that is more efficient and effective than what could be accomplished alone.

"WOW!"  is the word we keep hearing during ISWEP quarterly meetings.

Members are pleased with the quality of tools they receive each quarter.

When most think of water quality, and in particular, storm water management, they immediately think of erosion and sediment control.  But our program focus goes beyond erosion and sediment control!  The Quarterly Toolbox materials are designed around specific topics that are broad and relevant to meeting NPDES Phase II permit requirements.  Following are topics for 2005 and a copy of the "Talking Points" distributed in each toolbox, which gives you an overview of the tools provided in each quarter:

1st Quarter NPDES Phase II Review Quarter 1 Talking Points.pub
2nd Quarter Erosion & Sediment Control Quarter 2 Talking Points.pub
3rd Quarter Illicit Discharge Detection & Elimination Quarter 3 Talking Points. pub
4th Quarter Post-Construction Storm Water Quality Quarter 4 Talking Points.pub

ISWEP Membership is very affordable and the best part is that the more members we have, the better the program becomes because we are able to do more for you!  If you think about it, you are getting the equivalent of four staff members whose sole purpose is to research and develop professionally designed materials that make your job of education and outreach a whole lot easier.
